Mission and Outreach

Outreach at Church of the Redeemer is not a series of events but a way of life. It is striving to live a life that demonstrates God’s love by example. The Outreach and Mission Ministry Team is the bridge between the worshiping family of Redeemer and the community beyond the church. It educates the congregation as to the needs of the wider community and provides opportunities to address those needs both physically and financially. Also, it reminds the congregation that evangelism happens every time a Christian greets another person, and encourages the Redeemer family to greet the stranger who has just moved into the community.

Some of the numerous opportunities to remember the needy, to restore hope for the poor, and to demonstrate God’s love for the world at Redeemer are:

Cooking and serving dinner to the guests of the Darby Mission Center

Supporting the Redeemer Thrift Shop with donations and time

Bringing food to Redeemer weekly which is then transported to St. Mary’s Food Pantry in Chester

Collecting school supplies every fall and when needed for children in impoverished schools

Participating in our Christmas Angels program which gives food and Christmas gifts to every family member of families in need (have served as many as 27 families)

Giving to missionaries who share the gospel with people in other countries

Tutoring children for Chester Children’s Chorus School and the Darby Mission Center’s after school program

In the past, we have assisted the work of the Interfaith Hospitality Network by housing the homeless in the parish hall and giving them dinner
